Here's why Dreams don't come true (part 2); Confessions of a Lifestyle Entrepreneur

Frankly speaking, up until I was about 24 years old, I didn't believe nor understand the concept of having dreams or making them come true. In my neighborhood we never talked about stuff like that. I don't even remember any teacher ever mentioning being anything nor being encouraged dream of possibility. I grew up believing that whatever circumstances you were given, that's it. Make due with what you have and just stay out of trouble.

Not a bad concept but what if you want more in life than just settling for the hand you were dealt? What if you had this deep down urge to go beyond the potential that was set for you? In my mid-twenties I started to change (after having 3 Children), I started to day dream about what I wanted my future to look like and started attracting others in my life who were the same.

But then I quickly learned that just being a dreamer wasn't tangible, I needed something more and I didn't realize that until I became homeless with my children having to go to a shelter in downtown Detroit. There was a second hand bookstore next to it that I walked into and started glancing into different books. I asked God to guide me to some books that would help me get my life together because I didn't understand how that would happen.

Then I stumbled upon the definition of what the word Dream meant, which is a succession of images, ideas, emotions and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of deep sleep. Sounds rather passive right?  That awakened me to thinking about what needs to go beyond just dreaming. How do I manifest that? and what is that?

In my desperation to find answers, I purchased two books that stuck out. One was on avoiding certain types of relationships and attracting the right ones that aligned with my goals. The other was taking control of my destiny by visioning the success I wanted and moving towards, making the right decisions, no matter how bad my circumstances were.

Dreamers don't always make it to the next stage because they just aren't prepared.

In entrepreneurship Dreamers can also be known as going through a drifter stage. This is where some might stay in the ideas stage.  For the most part, it's a lack of preparation. They share their ideas but may not come into fruition because of finding the right methodology to get started and be sustainable.

Here are the reasons why dreams don't come true;

  •   They just like the feel good sensations it gives them when seeing the emotional reaction of others listening to them, seeking validation for it puts them in a continual repeat cycle of just feeling important but always make excuses for why it's not done yet. Typically, these are the ones who can't narrow down their choices.
  • They have no clear direction so they're gathering information, telling as many People as possible until they get an aha moment that can lead them somewhere on the path. Some People do get lucky doing this. It's a gamble neither the less, they're out there.
  • They're just sharing hoping to get you or somebody else to do it for them (some People got plans for you that you don't even know about) until they have an understanding of what to do and maybe they won't ever understand. It could work out thou, if both parties are in to doing it. But if you're not, they'll probably never speak to you again anyway, cause you didn't serve their purpose.
  • They know that you're about that life so they're just doing a whole lot of talking as a distraction to get all of your gems, tell everyone about what you're doing and talk in circles with you about what they're trying to do but you ain't seen nothin yet. They're just draining your energy like a anxiety tick or something. Maybe, the individual or group will eventually get it together but let's be clear, not only will they waste a lot of their own time but they will waste yours too, if you're not careful.
Honestly, it's not uncommon to go through stages of meeting People like this. If you're putting yourself out there to win believe me, it's all apart of the process. So now let's get to how manifestation of your "Dreams" work.

Dreams don't come true Vision does

I'm not sure where I was when I heard this or maybe read it somewhere, that "Dreams don't come true Vision" does was the aha moment that put it all together for me. It was my vision that turned my dreams into reality. It allowed me to focus my efforts on the goals that were important to me.

Having a clear idea of what I wanted to achieve no matter how far of a distance it seemed to my current reality, and break down the steps of how I wanted to get there through research, books, videos and conventions of my future interest. Those steps helped me to stay motivated and on track of achieving my "dreams".

Knowing my vision helped me to make informed decisions and create plans that lead to me being more successful. By setting realistic and some unrealistic goals because we need some delusion here also), breaking them down into manageable steps can lead you into the direction of making them come true.

I love this quote written by  Author Ursula K. Le Guin that says. "The Creative Adult is the Child who survived the blandness of schooling, the unhelpful words of bad teachers, and the nay-saying words of the World.

The importance of having your own vision

Developing a vision for your life is incredibly important. It can provide you with a clear focus on what you want to accomplish, as well as motivate and inspire you to work towards your goals. With a clear vision of where you want to go, what you want to be and do, making decisions that are aligned with who you are and what you value can help to identify potential obstacles and find creative solutions to overcome them.

Having your own vision can also help build your self-confidence and give you the courage to take chances and risks. Ultimately clarifying your vision can help you become the best version of yourself. I know it seems as if I am redundant about that but it's really the secret sauce!

Visionaries are the World Changers

There's different kinds of visionaries but we will focus on the good ones. You know when someone is serious about what it is that they want out of life when you're really having a deep conversation with them. They are able to articulate the purpose. Clarifying what it is that they're already doing and can show you proof. They've already started before talking about it unless you are the one their doing business with. But, if they have the idea, they've done at least their due diligence with research, some examples. It's in progress.

Vision is the ability to plan the future with imagination or wisdom by clarifying your goals.
  1. Write down how you're going to do it and the steps you're going to take to get it done. Break down month to month, year to year and what your life will look like in 10 years.
  2. Why it's important for you to get there doing it? This is visionary stuff right here.
  3. You might be going through the roughest of circumstances but if you got a good attitude towards yourself and can vision the best outcomes for yourself with an attitude of gratitude, the law of attracting that vibe will absolutely come your way.
  4. Your decisions determine where you're going in life. Learning to make better, competent, quality decisions that help your future instead of hurt it will propel you to reach your goals.
  5. Asking yourself what purpose are you fulfilling or what purpose your business fulfils is the clarity you want.
  6. How does it add value? Being able to communicate your values help your positioning in business and in life.

 Vision is a straight line

Vision is aiming for a specific goal/achievement which with your effort is directed. "The goal is an objective or target that someone is trying to reach or achieve. It's where we want to be, the objective is purpose. It's the intention that gives you purpose. That purpose gives you the drive. The targeted objectives are clear statements of the specific activities required to achieve the goal.

The bottom line is,  see the end at the beginning and then work towards it. So to conclude, we all know that a vision goes no where without a dream. It's cool to say "My Dreams",  I still do, sometimes to make a point but in my head, I'm visualizing my goals, purpose and intentions.
