How to have glowing skin in your 40's & beyond



After 40 our skin has gone through many changes and often requires different types of care. The skin becomes drier, wrinkles start to form and it loses it's elasticity.  The stresses of life , eating unhealthy and environmental pollutants can take it's toll. 

However, there are many natural ingredients that can help maintain the skin's health and improve its appearance.  Being a Cosmetologist for 30 years, we've always had conversations about skincare and what works.  In this blog we'll explore the best natural ingredients for People over 40  to include in their skincare routine as well as some other alternatives you can do   

1). Hyaluronic Acid.  Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps to retain moisture. As we age, our skin produces less hyaluronic acid, which can lead to dry, dull skin. Combining it with a serum to your routine can help to hydrate your skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. 

Eat lots of Greens & Alkaline producing food

You can't skip this step at all, Eating leafy green vegetables as your largest serving on your plate will not only give you great skin but help your digestive system as well. Alkaline producing food are naturally, very high in vitamins & minerals which are needed to have healthy skin.

2). Vitamin C . Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. It also helps to improve skin tone and texture and can brighten a dull complexion. Vitamin C can be found in citrus fruits, such as oranges and lemon, and is also available in topical skincare products. 

Try not to  touch your face in Public!!! 

Try not to touch your face without washing your hands outside of your home,  don't let others touch your face without them having clean hands also. This is how you avoid skin infections and bacteria spreading on your face

Do a mild, oatmeal facial scrub nightly and a loofah body scrub followed by a plant-based, natural moisturizing oil like Shea butter, coconut oil, apricot oil, emu oil, mango butter or jojoba oil. Your face and body will look moisturized and glow.

3). Retinol. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that helps to increase cell turnover, leading to smoother, brighter and more youthful looking skin. It's also found in a lot of anti-aging skincare products. 

Stay hydrated with fresh squeezed juices and water 

Stay hydrated, drink daily recommended amounts of water.  As we get older, trust me I know the bladder can be challenging to manage. Who got time to be running to the restroom every 5 minutes? The main cause is that our core needs more regular tightening and so do our Kegel tightening, this will strengthen the pelvic muscles and you can drink lots of water...

4).  Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is a natural ingredient that has been used for centuries to soothe and hydrate the skin. It can also help to improve the appearance of wrinkles, providing relief from dry, itchy skin too

Stay away from Stressful People 

I can personally tell you, this is one of the most important of them all. Stay far away from any and everybody who causes you stress, let me tell you that will dry out your skin and age you like nothing else. 

5). Greene Tea. Green Tea is rich in antioxidants that can help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce redness and irritation, making it an ideal ingredient for sensitive skin.  

By adding these  natural ingredients to your skincare routine, you can help maintain the health and appearance of your skin as you age. It's important to remember that everyone's skin is different, so it may take some time to find the right ingredient and products that work for you. 
Sometimes what you use during the winter is too moisturizing for the summer or vice versa so getting those formulas down to a science that will keep your skin looking radiant for years to come.
