How I became a Boujee Backpacker

It was my first time going to Costa Rica back in 2016 when my life changed forever. I became a Boujee Backpacker! (and yes, I know the other spelling is Bougie)
Prior to that, I'd always had a suitcase full of separate attire for breakfast, lunch, dinner, excursions and to the night clubs for all my vacations.

My luggage fee's were insane and waiting at baggage claim hoping that mine would not get stuck in another Country in addition to having to wait till it came around the carousel, then lugging it through the airport was beyond irritating as well as exhausting. Upon arrival in the room, the first 2 hours was spent getting organized then needing a nap before we could go out and enjoy ourselves.

Then I got asked to go on a modern hippie adventure. We were to plan out our first 3 days after that go with the flow to where the wind blows. That was exciting to me because I had always wanted to do it but  at the time, in my later 40's, none of the women in my age range that I knew was even considering anything like that.  The surf sista that invited me was celebrating her 25th Birthday as sort of an independence evolution celebration or something.

So when she was telling a group of us surfers about it, I am the only one that said I wish I could go because it had been on my bucket list. So she said Let's go!!! A week later, we passed through customs with ease, walking through the airport extra fast, took a bus to our location with bag underneath our seats, went straight to a Restaurant, then to the Beach where I got to converse with a few fine Tiko's, visited a couple of gift shops,  then headed to our Hostel called The Surf Wipeout Inn which was amazing, quickly showered to do beach yoga while watching the Sunset, then to dinner.

All my changes were in my backpack, including my 2 ounce cleansing products to freshen up. I could go on and on but to conclude, journeying through 7 different Cities by boat, van and tour bus, staying in various locations was a phenomenal experience.  came back home with a new lightness, an opened energy center that gave me balance, putting life in perspective which led me to get rid of half of my belongings, selling most to become a minimalist.

I didn't ever want to go thru being a bag lady again. Well after a few years of that, I realized minimalism wasn't quite my thing, rather packing efficiency, having quality 3 in 1 products, quality accessories and being very organized was my jam.

I did keep was my love for backpacking thou. In fact, I own 7 different styles for various kinds of  trips.  For instance, one is for a 3 day staycation another for a beach day traveling  up the Coast, then others are for my filming gear to make YouTube videos, etc.,. All serve the purpose of being more mobile, igniting more spontaneity, exploration and having all my must haves with me... I'll share more about them in future post, hope this gave you a little inspiration too.
